New Downtown Art Coming

A new piece of art will be added downtown on Main Street, across the street from the Village Café restaurant. The eight-foot high vinyl pole will be white with black lettering and the phrase “May Peace Prevail on Earth” will be inscribed in eight different languages: English, Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Samoan, Persian, and the written language, Braille. . 




New Stop Sign Approved on Eucalyptus

Due to motorists’ right-of-way concerns at the intersection of Eucalyptus and Park avenues in downtown Vista, the City Council approved a new stop sign on Eucalyptus Avenue. The new stop sign will regulate the traffic on southbound Eucalyptus Avenue and clarify motorists’ right-of-way. 




Moonlight Sweeps San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Awards

The San Diego Theatre Critics Circle announced the winners of its 16th annual Craig Noel Awards for Theatrical Excellence. The Awards honor the top achievements in San Diego professional theater. The City’s Moonlight Stage Productions received the most recognition with a total of five awards for two of their 2017 productions: In the Heights and The Little Mermaid. 




Tax Preparation Help Available for Seniors

AARP volunteers will be at the McClellan Senior Center to provide assistance with taxes for the 2017 tax year. Contact the Senior Center at 760.643.5290 to make an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcomed Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.  




Summer Day Camp Registration

Mark your calendars now for April 16. Registration begins that day at 8:30 am for Recreation's Summer Day Camp program. The all-inclusive camp program provides campers with quality programming weekly at a great rate.




City Council Discusses Medical Marijuana

During its February 13 meeting, the City Council received an update on medical marijuana from city staff and discussed options for permitting medical marijuana retailers, and the delivery, cultivation and testing of it. The Council agreed to keep the status quo and schedule a workshop in the future to further discuss the matter. At this time, these commercial uses are not permitted in the city of Vista.
