Economic Development

The Economic Development Department is responsible for promoting business opportunities within the City of Vista.  This is accomplished through support services and programs designed to strengthen the City's financial base.  Economic Development also develops and implements promotional and marketing materials and incentive programs and acts as the liaison to the business community.  

Business Attraction

Economic Development participates in regional business and industrial trade shows to to seek out and and attract desireable businesses to Vista. Programs under this category include advertising capaigns and a city-wide listing of of available properties.

Economic Stimulus Program

This Redevelopment and Economic Development stimulus package was created to help spur spending at Vista retailers and to revitalize the local economy through private sector investments and job growth opportunities. For more information, click here.

Business Retention & Expansion

Vista C.A.R.E.s

A successful business retention and expansion program strives to keep businesses from relocating to other areas; helps businesses survive eonomic difficulties; assists businesses with expansions that create jobs; and helps firms increase their competitiveness. The Economic Development department developed the Vista C.A.R.E.s (Communicate, Assist, Retain Expand) program. For more information click here.

Business Ombudsman

A Business Ombudsman assists in resolving business related issues or challenges for Vista businesses. The department also participates in meetings held by different organizations so as to assist in obtaining a favorable address of issues impacting Economic Development in Vista. Workforce Development

The Vista Workforce Roundtable (VWR) connects employers, educators and workforce professionals in effort to create and retain Vista jobs for Vista residents and to ensure that Vista residents have educational and training opportunities to increase their professional competetiveness.

The Vista One-Stop Career Center is a function of the VWR and offer Vista residents a comprehensive menu of employment and training services, including help with resume writing, interviewing skills, finding job openings in your area, training programs, and much more.
